Phyllis Trowbridge paints and draws outdoors in the landscape year-round. In 2008, D.K. Row of the Oregonian wrote of her work: "There's enchantment and enigma, quiet awe in these paintings of lifting fog, melting snow and placid lakes." Phyllis has exhibited her work in solo shows at Mark Woolley Gallery in Portland and has participated in numerous regional group shows, including at the Schneider Museum in Ashland and the Oregon Biennial at the Portland Art Museum. She has pursued painting residencies at Sitka Center for Art and Ecology, Dorland Mountain Arts Colony, Red Cinder Creativity Center and the Vermont Studio Center. She received her B.A. from Hamilton College and her M.F.A. in painting from American University. Since 1996, Phyllis has taught painting and drawing at a variety of schools and programs in Oregon, including Pacific Northwest College of Art, Oregon College of Art & Craft, Sitka Center, Portland Community College, Rogue Community College and Southern Oregon University.
